Carey was a high fashion model, who measures at 5'10" she was a favorite of American fashion designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was an outstanding geologist who was awarded the title of Scientist of the Year in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Her father was a geologist and traveled across the globe as part of his career. When she was a student at in the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. An agent from Ford Model Agency located in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. In the year 1980, she emigrated to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris as well as Bordeaux and then returned back to New York in order to explore the modeling profession. The model was featured on Vogue as well as Glamour cover. She was a full-time student in New York University, obtaining the degree in Literature, which she earned in between assignments as a model. Then she became interested in acting and started training in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. In 1986 she began her career as an actor with a small part on the show "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. Her hobbies include ski, white-water rafting windsurfing, and rock climbing.
